About Bass River Pottery
Bass River Pottery is located on Cape Cod in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
It was always my dream to live by the ocean and make art. My work is greatly influenced by the cape's oceans and beaches, but my "New York" all black attire is still evident in my work.
I had taught art many years in New York before settling on Cape Cod for good. After teaching for many more years on the Cape, I left the "teaching" world and now take pleasure in making art that is to be enjoyed by others, everyday.
The mermaids originally were created as a holiday item, but the demand was so great, that they are now available year round. They may be found at many fine shops throughout the Cape and Islands.
The sgrafitto on the bowls is the intense desire to draw and carve upon an item. Writing on a bowl to me is the same as writing a letter to a friend, (a lost art these days with instant messaging and emails).The writing on a pot makes the piece personal and unique.
